Thunder ink Canadian guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to five-year, $172-million rookie max contract extension

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is getting paid the big bucks!

The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed the Canadian guard to a
five-year, $172-million rookie max contract extension. The deal, which will begin in 2022/23 after his current contract expires, has a 30% escalator that could take his guaranteed salary up to $207 million if he is named to an All-NBA team.

The 23-year old Toronto native, who was selected 11th overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2018 NBA Draft, averaged 23.7 points, 4.7 assists and 5.9 assists in 35 games this past season.
