Ben Simmons passed up a wide open dunk in the final minutes of Game 7, and it’s still infuriating to watch

Let’s face it. Ben Simmons is not a star player you can rely on in the postseason. He further proved it last night with a dud of a performance in the team’s Game 7 loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

The 24-year old, who is in the midst of a five-year, $170 million max contract, put up just five points on four shots and hit just one free throw in a do-or-die game for Philadelphia.

The most notable highlight of the game that essentially encapsulates the flaws of the former first overall pick was when he passed on an easy wide-open dunk attempt to give the ball to Matisse Thybulle in a close game with just minutes left to play in the fourth quarter. Of course, Thybulle got sent to the line and missed one of his two free throw attempts. It seemed to be a turning point because the Hawks turned it on following the play and didn’t look back.
