The Chicago White Sox were given some devastating news.

The team announced that rising star outfielder Eloy Jiménez will be out approximately 5-6 months after rupturing his left pectoral tendon while diving for a ball during a Spring Training game on Thursday. He will have to undergo surgery to repair the injury.

“Our biggest concern is Eloy. He’s the guy who’s hurt. He’s the guy that’s got to go through the rehab,” manager Tony La Russa said.

“As a team, you look at what you have, not what you don’t have. We don’t have him, but we have other guys. It’s not going to be an open spot. Somebody’s going to play there.”

The 24-year old, who broke out in his rookie season back in 2019, has amassed a .276 batting average, .848 OPS, 45 homers and 120 RBI in 177 combined games over two seasons.
