The Edmonton Oilers have decided enough is enough!

Just hours after an upsetting 4-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks, the team announced they have fired head coach Dave Tippett and associate coach Jim Playfair.

According to TSN’s Darren Dreger, Bakersfield Condors (Oilers’ AHL affiliate) bench boss Jay Woodcroft and his assistant coach Dave Manson will take over behind the Oilers’ bench.

Tippett, who was in his third season behind the Oilers’ bench, led Edmonton to a combined 95-62-14 regular season record and two playoff appearances (both ending in first round exits) during his tenure with the franchise.

The Oilers currently sit fifth and the Pacific Division and five points back of the final Western Conference wild-card spot with a 23-18-3 record.
