It’s happened, it’s finally happened!

After months of speculation and uncertainty, the Buffalo Sabres were finally able to trade disgruntled star Jack Eichel.

The team officially announced that they have traded Eichel along with a conditional 2023 third round draft pick to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for forward Alex Tuch, prospect Peyton Krebs, and a conditional 2022 first round pick and 2023 third round pick.

The conditionals are as follows:

  • The Sabres will get the 2022 first round pick AND a 2023 second round pick IF the Golden Knights 2022 first rounder is outside the top 10.
  • The Sabres 2022 first round pick will move to 2023 AND the 2023 second round pick will move to 2024 IF the Golden Knights’ 2022 first round pick is within the top 10.

As part of the deal, the Golden Knights will allow Eichel to get the artificial herniated disc replacement surgery he fought tooth and nail to get with the Sabres this offseason.

The 25-year old, who was selected second overall in the 2015 NHL Draft, has amassed 139 goals and 216 assists over a span of 375 regular season games and six seasons in the NHL
