The Philadelphia Flyers are moving on from their head coach.

The team announced that they are parting ways with Mike Yeo after a disastrous season that saw them finish dead last in the Metropolitan Division with a 25-46-11 record.

“I met with Mike yesterday and I advised him he won’t be our head coach for next season,” said Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher.

“We dealt Mike a really tough hand. He’s a good coach. I thought he did a really good job under the circumstances. He kept our players competing and playing hard to the end”

The 48-year old had been the Flyers’ head coach since taking over on an interim basis after Alain Vigneault was fired back in December 6, 2021.

The Flyers are open to keeping him in the organization with a different role, but are also giving him an opportunity to speak to other teams about possible coaching positions.
