The Winnipeg Jets’ offence just suffered a major loss as they are in the midst of competing for the first seed in the North Division.

The team confirmed that veteran forward Nikolaj Ehlers will be sidelined for the rest of the 2020/21 regular season due to what is being described as an upper body injury.

He reportedly sustained the injury when he collided with Jake Muzzin late in the third period of the Jets’ 4-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.

Despite the bad news, the Jets anticipate he will be ready to return to the lineup come playoff time.

The 25-year old is in the midst of an incredible season, posting 21 goals and 25 assists in 47 games this season.
