The Montreal Canadiens made a major change behind the bench following an embarrassing blowout loss to the New Jersey Devils.

The team announced that they have relieved Dominique Ducharme of his duties, and then shortly after, named Tampa Bay Lightning legend Martin St. Louis as their interim bench boss for the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign.

“We are very happy to welcome Martin to the Canadiens organization” said general manager Kent Hughes.

“Not only are we adding an excellent hockey man, but with Martin we are bringing in a proven winner and a man whose competitive qualities are recognized by all who have crossed his path.”

The 46-year-old Hockey Hall of Famer certainly has his hands full with this disastrous edition of the Canadiens.

The injury ravaged ‘Le Bleu-Blanc-Rouge’ are dead last in the NHL with an 8-30-7 record, 23 points with a -79 goal differential through 45 games.
