The Arizona Coyotes are going to have to find a new place to play after this upcoming season

The city of Glendale announced on Thursday that they have terminated the NHL franchise’s lease for Gila River Arena, which is owned by the city.

“With an increased focus on larger, more impactful events and uses of the city-owned arena, the city of Glendale has chosen to not renew the operating agreement for the Arizona Coyotes beyond the coming 2021-22 season,” said the city of Glendale in a statement via their official Twitter account.

“The City has informed the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Arizona Coyotes that the upcoming season will be the team’s last in Gila River Arena. The parties have been operating under a year-to-year agreement for several years.”

Coyotes have played in the arena since 2003, back when it was called the Glendale Arena.
