Alex Ovechkin has reached another milestone.

After scoring in the third period of the Washington Capitals’ 4-3 win over the New York Islanders on Tuesday, he passed hockey legend Jaromir Jagr third on the NHL’s all-time goal scoring list.

Jagr was happy to see Ovechkin pass him in the record books, and even took time out of his day to post a congratulatory video on his official Twitter account.

“Now you’ve become the leading NHL goal-scorer among European players, but keep scoring. Keep scoring, because as you know, I didn’t retire from hockey yet and there’s a chance I might come back to the NHL and start chasing you.” said Jagr in the video.

Ovechkin has amassed 767 goals over a span of 1256 regular season games and 16-plus seasons with the Capitals franchise.

He needs just 35 goals to surpass Gordie Howe for sole possession of second, and is just 127 back from Wayne Gretzky for the all-time leader in goals.
