Raptors acquire Kawhi Leonard from Spurs

By on July 18, 2018

Its the end of one era and the start of another one in Raptor land.

According to reports, the Toronto Raptors have landed All-Star Kawhi Leonard and veteran swingman Danny Green from the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a protected 2019 first round (protected 1-20)

Leonard, who played in just nine games last season due to a combination of a right quadriceps injury and dissatisfaction with how the Spurs handled his injury recovery, is two years removed from an MVP-calibre season where he averaged 25.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 74 games.

DeRozan spent his entire nine-year career with the Raptors franchise, averaging 19.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists over a span of 675 games. He was selected to four NBA All-Star Games and made an All-NBA second team and All-NBA Third team during his tenure in Toronto.
