Rangers acquire defenceman Adam McQuaid from Bruins

By on September 11, 2018

The New York Rangers bolstered their defence on Tuesday, acquiring veteran d-man Adam McQuaid from the Boston Bruins in exchange for journeyman defenceman Steven Kampfer, a fourth round draft pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, and a conditional seventh round draft pick.

McQuaid, 31, will be entering his 10th season in the league since being selected 55th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2005 NHL Draft. He was limited to just 38 games last season after breaking his right fibula in a game against the Vancouver Canucks on October 17.

During that span, he recorded a goal and three assists. He also appeared in all 12 of the team’s playoff games, where he registered a goal and an assist before the Bruins were eventually eliminated by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
