The Nashville Predators are getting some depth back into their lineup as they fight for first place in the Central Division.

The NHL and the players union announced Monday that forward Austin Watson has been reinstated after serving an indefinite suspension for alcohol abuse and entering the NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse and Behavioural Health Program in late January.

“Consistent with the recommendations of the NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program, Nashville Predators forward Austin Watson has been returned to available status and has entered the follow-up care phase of the program,” said the Predators in a statement.

“Because of the personal nature and the steps outlined in the Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program, and our extensive focus on Austin and his family’s well-being, there will be no further comment on this matter.”

Watson had also missed the first 18 games of the season because of a separate suspension he was serving stemming from a domestic assault incident at a gas station in Nashville last July.

He has posted seven goals, six assists and a plus-9 rating in 34 games this season.
