By on January 15, 2018

The San Francisco Giants just bolstered their outfield in a big way.

According to reports, the team has acquired veteran outfielder Andrew McCutchen from the Pittsburgh Pirates. The return for the Pirates has yet to be determined.

McCutchen, who won the NL MVP in 2013, has hit a combined .291 with an .866 OPS, 203 homers and 725 RBI over nine combined seasons with the Pirates. He is coming off a bounce back campaign after seeing his production drop off the year before.

In 2017, the 31-year old posted a .279 batting average, .363 on-base percentage, 28 homers and 88 RBI in 156 games.

He is also in the final season of the seven-year, $65 million contract he signed back in 2012, and is slated to become an unrestricted free agent in 2019.
