Jagr not with Flames for road trip

We all knew the time was coming when Jaromir Jagr would no longer be able to find a spot on an NHL roster. Now, there is no guarantee that time is now but it certainly seems that way as the 45-year-old wasn’t brought on his teams 4 game road trip, Jagr hasn’t played since Dec. 31st (I was gonna say “since last year” but that woulda been douchey)

Jagr hasn’t played all that great so far with the Flames posting on 1 goal and 6 assists through 22 games in limited minutes on a team that has been up and down all season. Calgary has finally found some stability in net with Mike Smith and on paper, their defence is great but they just haven’t been able to put it all consistently yet this season, they sit 10th last in goals scored.

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun made an interesting point that Jagr could be released in time to play for the Czech Republic at the Olympics, which would be a great sendoff to a phenomenal career. Also, TSN insider, the best in the biz Bob McKenzie let it be known that when the two sides agree to a deal before the season started, there was an agreement that if the season didn’t go as planned for either side that the contract would be terminated.
