The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are hoping for some more ‘Fitzmagic’ moving forward.

The team announced following their 42-28 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday that Ryan Fitzpatrick will still be the team’s starting quarterback heading into the second half of the season.

Despite the loss, Fitzpatrick managed to throw for 243 yards on 20 pass completions, and bounced back with four touchdowns to combat his two interceptions.

“He’s a veteran, and he knows how to bounce back and handle adversity,” said teammate Adam Humphries about Fitzpatrick’s performance in Week 9.

“Even after the pick, he wasn’t shaken up at all. You could just tell he was composed and was able to put a couple good drives together.”

The 35-year old veteran, who started the first four games of the season while previous starter Jameis Winston served his three game suspension over sexual misconduct allegations, recently won back the starting job after Winston’s subpar performance lead the team to three losses in four games. During that span, Winston threw for more interceptions (10) than touchdowns (6) and was sacked a whopping 13 times.

It remains unclear how much of a leash Fitzpatrick has with his job security moving forward.

The Buccaneers currently sit last in the NFC South with a 3-5 record. They host the Washington Redskins at Raymond James Stadium in their next game on November 11.
