The Los Angeles Clippers are clearly going all in to sign Kawhi Leonard next offseason, and will not allow the likes of Bruce Bowen to ruin their chances.

The team confirmed Monday that they have removed Bowen as their TV colour analyst for the upcoming season. The news comes less than two months after he publicly criticized the now Raptors star for how he handled his injuries last year.

“I think there’s nothing but excuses going on,” said Bowen to SiriusXM Radio on June 22.

“First, it was, ‘Well I was misdiagnosed.’ Look here: You got $18 million this year, and you think that they’re trying to rush you? You didn’t play for the most part a full season this year. And you’re the go-to guy, you’re the franchise, and you want to say that they didn’t have your best interest at heart? Are you kidding me?”

The 47-year old, who was hired to replace Michael Smith as play-by-play man Ralph Lawler’s assistant broadcaster, was heading into just his second season at the role.

According to reports, the move was done to ensure Leonard that he would not have to deal with criticism by the media if he chose to sign in Los Angeles next offseason.
