The Toronto Blue Jays have avoided arbitration with a couple of their veteran guys, and will bring them back for another season

The team announced Friday that they signed outfielder Ezequiel Carrera to a one-year, $1.9 million deal and lefty reliever Aaron Loup to a one-year contract worth $1.812,500.

Carrera, 30, had his best season with the Blue Jays in 2017, posting a .282 batting average, .356 on-base percentage, eight homers and 20 RBI in 131 games as a fourth outfielder. He will also be eligible for arbitration in 2019.

Loup, who has spent his entire six-year career with the Blue Jays organization, finished with a 2-3 record, 3.75 ERA and 1.53 WHIP in 57.2 innings of relief in 2017. He is in the final year of control and will be able to become an unrestricted free agent next offseason.
