Nolan Arenado is about to get paid the big bucks.

According to MLB insider Jeff Passan, the Colorado Rockies are finalizing a massive eight-year contract extension with the star third baseman that will pay north of $260 million and give him largest annual average value among any position players in MLB history. The deal also allows him to opt-out after the third season.

The 27-year old, who was selected in the second round of the 2009 MLB Draft, has posted a combined .291 batting average, .886 OPS, 186 homers and 616 RBI over a span of seven seasons and 876 games with the franchise.

In his relatively young career, he has already been selected to four MLB All-Star Games, and won four Silver Slugger Award and six Gold Glove Awards.

He was set to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2019 season.
