Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre officially announced his retirement from baseball on Tuesday.

“After careful consideration and many sleepless nights, I have made the decision to retire from what I’ve been doing for my whole life, which is playing baseball, the game I love,” said Beltre in a statement.

The 39-year old Dominican Republic native amassed over 3000 hits and played in 2933 regular season games during his illustrious career.

He posted a combined .286 batting average, .819 OPS, 477 homers, and 1707 RBI over a span of 21 seasons split between the Los Angeles Dodgers, Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox and Rangers.

He made four MLB all-star appearances, and won five Gold Glove Awards, two Platinum Glove Awards and four Silver Slugger Awards. He was also a National League home run leader in 2004, and hit for the cycle a record three times in that span.
